Donald Wayne Pedigo, born on August 17, 1950, in Danville, Illinois, left this world on June 17, 2025. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, PaPa, and friend to many. His remarkable journey through life came to an end, but the legacy of his gentle spirit and caring nature will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Don dedicated many years of his life to the craft of welding, working for Jaggers Equipment Company until its closure. He later retired from Mann & Hummel Company, where he was respected for his dedication and work ethic. Education was a deeply cherished value for him; at the age of 60, he returned to pursue his GED, demonstrating his commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Don were drawn to his stoic presence, often perceiving him as the strong silent type. However, to those close to him, he was so much more. Beneath his calm exterior lay a warm, loving heart that would go above and beyond for anyone in need. His laughter and jokes filled gatherings with joy, a testament to his vibrant spirit that will be dearly missed.
In his free time, Don found happiness in various hobbies. He enjoyed fishing with his daughter and grandchildren, working on and racing cars, visiting the shooting range, and indulging his passion for firearms by buying, trading, cleaning, and repairing guns. Each of these activities brought him joy and served as a way to share special moments with his loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Mattingly and her husband Eli; grandchildren Dalton, Colton, Jaxton, Ellie, and Ashley Mattingly; and his caring mother-in-law Wanda Carter. Don also leaves behind brothers-in-law Kevin Carter and his wife Sherry, Keith Carter and his wife Laura, sisters-in-law Cheryl Parr and her husband Bob and Kim Carter. He cherished his relationships with nieces and nephews, including Russell Early and his wife Paige, Vicki McAllister and her husband Jesse, and Tanya Richter and her husband Jay, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Don has been reunited with his beloved wife and best friend of 40 years, Candy Pedigo; his parents, Donald Lee Pedigo and Elizabeth Swank Pedigo; sister Pat VanCamp; brother-in-law Lee VanCamp; and niece Sherry VanCamp, father-in-law James R. Carter. Their love for him transcends time and space, leaving a profound impact on his family and friends.
