Donald Goodwin Nelson

Donald Goodwin Nelson, 85 of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed on over into heaven on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

He was born in Bagdad, Kentucky to Luther Justus and Martha Jane (Long) Nelson.

Donald was a beloved member of Graceland Baptist Church and had served as a volunteer for over 25 years at St. Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown. He grew up farming alongside of his parents, then went on to work for National Lighting, Indiana Army Ammunition Plant and the Clark County State Highway Department.

Donald married Wilma Christine (Smith) Nelson in 1972 and they were happily married for 47 years.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; siblings, Walter Thomas Nelson, Lee Katherine Jamison, Elliott “Suter” Nelson, Ray Nelson, Clay Nelson, Lewis Nelson, and infant siblings Harold Lee and Little John.

Donald is survived by his sisters, Lois Jamison and Ora Lee Jenkins (Dutch); and his loving “adopted daughter” Leslie Ingram and her family.

He was laid to rest beside his wife at Abundant Life Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Graceland Baptist Church (3600 Kamer Miller Road, New Albany, IN 47150).
