Donald Lee Smith

Donald Lee Smith, 85, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. Don was a lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army 82 Airborne Division. He retired from the Jeffersonville Police Department after 20 years of distinguished service and was the first commercial scuba diver in the Louisville area. He then continued his career for another 15 years at ACBL as a maintenance supervisor.

Don was born on December 21, 1929 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late John L. and Bessie (Higdon) Smith. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Vivian (Miller) Smith; daughter, Virginia Gayle Smith; brothers; Al, Richard, and John Smith; and sisters, Bessie Parks and Kate Hammond.

He is survived by his children, Larry Lee Smith (Mary Ann) and Michael Wayne Smith and Patti Sue Smith; grandchildren, Christopher Ray, Kari Susanne, Adam Rion, Kevin Lee, Christopher Johnathan, Kyle William, and Cory Thomas; and great grandchildren, Emma Ruby, Sydney Kate, John Walter, Abby Beth, Katelyn Grace, and Noah Thomas.

Don's Memorial Service will be at 6 PM on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church (2014 Allison Lane, Jeffersonville, IN 47130) with a Memorial Visitation before the service from 2 to 6 PM.
