Donald "Chad" Dobbs

Donald "Chad" Dobbs, age 85 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026.  Chad was born on December 28, 1940 to the late William H. Dobbs and Thelma J. Metz Dobbs.  He graduated from the University of Louisville and taught high school mathematics in the Jefferson County Public Schools.  He was a long-time member of Kentucky's 100th Division Army Reserve, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.  Chad loved ballroom dancing and met his wife Mary, while learning to dance.  

In addition to his parents, Chad was preceded in death by his step-son, Charles I. Bush.  

Chad leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Alice (Poteet) Dobbs; his brother, Todd Dobbs (Jeri); and step-daughters, Charlene Simmons and Dianna Cox; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.  A celebration of Chad's life will be Tuesday, April 14th at 11am at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
