Don Mitchell

Don Mitchell, 71, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026. Don was a loving and devoted spouse, father, and Po to his beloved grandchildren. He was a self proclaimed "problem solver" and had an infectious sense of humor. Don was a lifelong Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and Kentucky Wildcats fan. He was an avid reader and enjoyed education. Don had a passion for music. He studied at the University of Louisville School of Music and sang with the Louisville Bach Society. He continued to pass his love for music down to his children and grandchildren. Don was a true outdoorsman and loved to spend time in nature, another love that he passed to his children. He was recently able to embark on a remarkable trip to Alaska, an adventure he had dreamed of for years. Don will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on December 8, 1954 in Frankfort, Kentucky to Lowell and Bertha (Snelling) Mitchell. He is preceded in death by his father, Lowell Manford Mitchell; Mother, Bertha Mitchell; son, Jason Mitchell; and sister, Karen Mitchell.

Don is survived by his loving family, sons, James Mitchell, Jonathan (Meagan) Mitchell; daughter, Erin Mitchell; grandchildren, Nolan Mitchell, Norah Mitchell; fiancee', Robbin Hall; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 8, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Louisville, 235 Juneau Drive. A celebration of his life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Louisville.

The family requests that contributions in Don's memory be made to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.
