Dolores Jean (Wilson) Singhiser, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished member of her community, passed away on November 25, 2024, in Goshen, Kentucky. Born on June 23, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky, Dolores was the daughter of the late Stoy and Evelyn (Weber) Wilson. She held dear the memories of her childhood, having attended St. Cecilia Catholic School and later Presentation Academy.
Dolores dedicated many years of her life to her career, having worked at Otto Drugs, Taylor Drugs, and eventually retiring from Rite Aid. Even in retirement, she continued to share her warmth and dedication with others as a food sampler at Meijers and Kroger. Throughout her life, Dolores was known for her engaging personality and her deep love for her family, animals, and friends.
Among her vast array of interests, Dolores found joy in hosting family Thanksgivings and Christmas gatherings, where laughter and games filled her home. She treasured the time spent playing board games and cards with her loved ones. She also enjoyed visiting her sister, Lynda in Maine and listening to her brother, Mike's various bands. Her creative spirit shone through in her hobbies such as crocheting, artwork, and playing the piano. She took pride in admiring and celebrating her grandchildren's talents, creating lasting memories through their shared passions.
Dolores was a devoted sports fan, especially fond of the U of L Cardinal football and basketball teams, and had a particular admiration for Tom Brady. One of her proudest accomplishments was her family, which she cherished deeply. She also found delight in her visits to Churchill Downs and other horse racing tracks with her husband, Lou, often recalling the excitement of when her favorite jockey, Calvin Borel, won a race she had placed a bet on.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis "Butch" R. Singhiser, and her brother, Stoy "Buddy" Wilson. Dolores leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth through her children: Joan Miller (Jay), John Singhiser, Janice Taylor (Tom), and Jeffrey Singhiser (Ellen), along with her adoring grandchildren, Brandy Singhiser, April Crow (Wesley), Amanda Singhiser, Jessica McGee (Kevin), and Bailee Evers, and two great-grandchildren, Maddie and Mason. She is also survived by her sister, Lynda Roberts, and her brother, Michael Wilson (Chris), along with several nieces and nephews.
Dolores Jean (Wilson) Singhiser will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her joyful spirit, and the countless lives she touched throughout her lifetime. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Dolores's life will be held at a later date.
