Dolores Walker, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished, passed away peacefully at her home in Crestwood, Kentucky, on September 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 3, 1960, in Pewee Valley, Kentucky, Dolores dedicated her life to those she loved and to her community embodying kindness and warmth throughout her years.
Dolores's professional journey included several years as a supervisor at the Oldham County Rest Area, where she exhibited dedication and strong leadership qualities. She also served as a dietary aid at the Northfield Manor Nursing Home, where she cared deeply for the residents, reflecting her compassionate nature.
Family was the cornerstone of Dolores's life. She loved them unconditionally and created countless treasured memories, most notably when she joyfully walked her daughter, Debbie, down the aisle on her wedding day. Her nurturing spirit and ability to make everyone feel welcome in her home were hallmarks of her personality. Dolores was known for her big heart and her capacity to connect with people, often forming lasting friendships wherever she went.
Dolores was an individual who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She found joy in playing bingo, visiting the Derby City Gaming venue, exploring the Kentucky State Fair, and hunting for treasures at yard sales. These hobbies enriched her life and brought her happiness that she shared with those around her.
She attended Oldham County High School, where she likely built the foundation of many lifelong friendships that would follow her through the years. She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Delbert Walker; their daughters, Jodie Walker, Tabatha Wallace, and Debbie Adair (Joe); and their son, John Cain. She was also a proud grandmother to Dasan Walker, Patrick Wallace, Mason Adair, Joey Adair, Destiny Wallace, Elizabeth Wallace, Justin Miller, John Cain Jr., and Jaxson Cain. Her siblings, Pearl Bea Dunn and Mary Rouser, will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.
Dolores is predeceased by her parents, Berley and Pearl Cline; her granny, Elizabeth Gamble; her sister, Lucky Fultcher; her brothers, Steve and Berley Cline Jr.; and her grandson, Nickie Delbert Lee Walker Jr.
A visitation to honor Dolores will take place on September 29, 2024, from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.
Dolores Walker's legacy of love, compassion, and joy will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for her generous spirit and the happiness she brought into the lives of others.
