Dolores Marian Henkenmeier passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was 100 years old.
Dolores was born on October 18, 1918 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to the late Henry and Edith (Wielage) Stuckman. She was preceded in death, by her husband, Loren Henkenmeier, and sister, Rosella Havermale.
Dolores is survived by her sons, Lynn E. (Glenna) Henkenmeier, Wendell Edward (Margaret) Henkenmeier, Lyle Donald (Patricia) Henkenmeier, six grandchildren: Heather, Sarah, Stephen, Beth, Daniel and Andrew. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren Lillian, Lauren, Christian, Hope, Sophie, Emily and Oliver.
Mrs. Henkenmeier, and her husband, Loren, were longtime residents of Carlinville, Illinois. They were active in many community and civic organizations. Dolores was a homemaker, golfer and avid bridge player. She enjoyed being part of the Home Bureau, and was the Carlinville correspondent for the Illinois State Register.
Dolores raised her family in the Standard Addition—a community built by Standard Oil, from kits ordered out of the 1924 Sears & Roebuck catalog. Dolores, along with other Standard Addition Mothers, recognized the need for a community playground. Through the efforts of these women, the Tom Thumb Park came into being.
