Listen to Obituary

Dianne Scheer passed away on December 23, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 79.

Dianne was born on February 26, 1946 and grew up in Youngstown, Ohio. She studied nursing at Saint Elizabeth School of Nursing and moved to Parma, Ohio for her first nursing job. Dianne earned her Nurse Practitioner license and worked as a OBGYN registered nurse until she was able to be a stay-at-home mom for her three children, travel the world with her beloved husband, and selflessly serve her community.

Dianne will be deeply missed by her children, Everett Scheer III, Rebecca Scheer, and Sarah Scheer-Davis (Eric Davis); her grandson, Levi Davis; siblings Lou Doria (Marie) and Christine Starr (Chris); and a community of friends who loved her. Dianne is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Helen Doria, and her husband Everett Scheer Jr.

Dianne was a woman of deep faith and generous spirit, a devout and longtime member of Epiphany Catholic Church where her presence was both constant and meaningful. She lived her faith through action, dedicating countless hours to the life of the parish and its outreach. Dianne was actively involved in numerous ministries, including Sages, Hunger and Poverty, Wednesday for Women, Eucharistic Ministry, and Flower Angels, among many others. Through these groups she offered service, companionship, and compassion, always seeking to uplift others and strengthen her community. Her commitment to her church reflected the values by which she lived-faith, service, and love for all.

She lived her life with a fierce and compassionate commitment to justice. A tireless advocate for the poor, the hungry, and the unhoused, she believed deeply in dignity for every person and worked to turn that belief into action. Whether through organizing, volunteering, or quietly helping those in need, she gave her time, voice, and heart to others through organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, Gilda’s Club and St. Vincent dePaul. Her legacy is one of service, conscience, and an unwavering belief in the power of kindness to create change.

Dianne found her greatest peace in the natural world. An avid gardener, she took joy in tending her plants, patiently nurturing beauty from the soil with her own hands. The ocean was another place she loved deeply-its changing tides and open horizons a constant source of calm and wonder. She was also devoted to birds, delighting in their songs and movements, and always kept the feeders full. Through her love of earth, sea, and sky, she lived with a quiet appreciation for life’s simple, enduring beauty.

She was a devoted Gigi whose greatest joy was Levi, her grandson, around whom so many of her happiest memories were made. Gigi delighted in sharing experiences with Levi-attending plays side-by-side, tickling bridges on boat rides, and enjoying holiday traditions where her pride was unmistakable. Her affection was constant and generous, expressed in time spent, rib-breaking hugs, Facetime conversations, and the simple happiness of being together.

Visitation will be held at Epiphany Catholic Church, 914 Old Harrods Creek Road, Louisville, KY, on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 9-11am. A funeral service will follow at 11am. The funeral service will be live streamed. Check back here closer to Friday, 1/2 for the link.
