With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Diana Lynn Gilpin Goldsmith, who departed this world on June 30, 2026, in her beloved hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Born October 13, 1961, in Louisville, Diana’s life was a tapestry of kindness, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Diana’s gift was her boundless capacity for love and care. She was the first to offer a helping hand, the loud voice of reassurance, and the irreplaceable glue that held her loved ones together. Her greatest joy was spending holidays surrounded by her family. Diana enjoyed playing all kinds of games— she was very competitive making each moment unforgettable.
To those closest to her, Diana had an extraordinary gift for making people feel seen and cherished. She poured attention and love into each relationship, ensuring that her circle of family and friends knew how special they were. Her devotion extended to the animal kingdom, where she found endless joy, especially in the companionship of her cats. Among them, Blu held a place of particular closeness in her heart—a bond only those lucky enough to witness could truly understand.
Diana’s legacy continues through her devoted husband, Gary Goldsmith; her three loving daughters, Patricia Lynn Gilpin (Brian), Stephanie Lynn Gilpin, and Fallon Goldsmith (Michael). She was a proud and doting grandmother to Michael Cashin, Cameron Cashin, Katelynn Cook, Savannah Hudson, and Dominic Jones, and she was overjoyed to welcome her great-grandson, Santiago Cashin. Diana’s mom, Connie Hurt, and dad, Michael Joseph Riley, survive her, as do her siblings, Charles Jason Hurt, and Amanda Michelle Winstead (Robert). Numerous nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and cousins join her family in honoring her memory and carrying forth her generous spirit.
Diana was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Riley; father, Charles D. Hurt; beloved grandson, Zachary Wayne Mills; brother, Charles Gary Hurt “Chucky”; and all her grandparents. Their love and guidance were constant companions throughout her journey.
To gather and celebrate Diana’s remarkable life, family and friends are invited to visitation on Monday, July 6th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the same location, where loved ones will come together to share stories and memories, honoring a life lived wholeheartedly.
Diana Lynn Gilpin Goldsmith’s love, compassion, and spirit have left an indelible mark on all who were privileged to know her. Her gentleness, her laughter, and her unwavering devotion will echo in the hearts of those she cherished for generations to come.
