Diana (Phelps) Cornell

Diana (Phelps) Cornell, 67, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018. She loved working with children and was an employee at S. Ellen Jones Elementary School for over 30 years. Diana also worked as a tax preparer at H&R Block for the past 10 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, as well as scrapbooking and traveling.

She was born on June 21, 1950 in New Albany to the late Raymond Phelps and Nonie (Lee) Bough. Along with her parents, Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Tom" Cornell; and siblings, Raymond Oltman and Arthur Phelps.

Diana is survived by her daughters, Tammy Cornell Hughes (Rich), Elizabeth Cornell Herbert (Brandon); sister-in-law, Patty Oltman; grandchildren, Willow, Rowan, Ian, Brienne; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen following Diana's wishes and a reception of family and friends will be from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany).

Contributions in Diana's memory may be made to the Floyd County Animal Rescue League (215 W. Market Street, New Albany, IN 47150).
