Derek Edward Woods, 29, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, November 6, 2016. He was an avid fan of the Louisville Cardinals. Derek enjoyed camping, boating, and every opportunity he had to spend time with his family.
He was born on April 13, 1987 in Louisville, Kentucky to Edward and Sherry (Abel) Woods. Along with his parents, Derek is survived by his sister, Brittany Adams (Travis); grandmothers, Jacqueline Abel, Patricia Woods; niece, Savannah Adams; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Abel and Gerald Woods.
Visitation will be from 1 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (8310 St. John's Road, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119) with cremation to follow.
