Dennis Kendrick Vanornum

April 16, 1947 — August 18, 2016

Dennis Kendrick VanOrnum, 69, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on August 18, 2016, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born in Chico, California, to Oscar, Jr., and Auda "Audi" (Stautler) VanOrnum. Dennis retired from the U.S. Army after many years of dedicated service and was a graduate of Indiana University Southeast. He was a talented potter and the owner and operator of VanOrnum Clay Studio. Dennis was a member of the Masons, American Legion Post #42, and the Elks Lodge #270 in New Albany, Indiana.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Oscar K. VanOrnum, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sharon (Pugh) VanOrnum; children, Kelly Hamilton, James Hamilton (Sherri), Erin Moore, Megan Bruce (Chris), and Dennis VanOrnum, Jr.; his mother, Audi VanOrnum; sisters, Cheri VanOrnum, Lori Kamphaus (Bill), and Penni Borghi (Dino); 8 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, a sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, and extended family.

His visitation will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., with visitation before from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer.
