Dennis Joseph Garr, born on July 8, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on October 3, 2024. He was the cherished son of the late Daniel and Angela (Angermeier) Garr and was preceded in death by his beloved aunt, Annie Angermeier.
Dennis was a proud and dedicated member of the United States Navy, serving as a fire control technician on the Submarine USS Sunfish based in Charleston, South Carolina. His military service exemplified his commitment and discipline, traits that he carried with him throughout his life. In addition to his distinguished military career, Dennis also shared his passion for music with others as a DJ, where he brought joy and laughter to countless individuals.
A graduate of Trinity High School, class of 1978, Dennis was known for his larger-than-life personality. He had an innate ability to make people laugh and took immense joy in cooking and roller skating. His love for music, coupled with his talent as a DJ, illuminated the lives of those around him.
Dennis is survived by his loving daughter, Amanda (Mike) Quiles, who will carry forward his legacy, and his grandchildren, Caitlin Garr and Noah Quiles, who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind his former spouse, Joyce Garr, with whom he shared many fond family memories.
As a father, grandfather, son, and friend, Dennis Joseph Garr will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor, and undying love for his family. His spirit and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Per Dennis's wishes cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
