Denise Lore Chism Waldbrunn

Denise Lore Chism Waldbrunn, born on February 14, 1953 in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on July 16, 2024.

Denise is survived by her children, Damion Waldbrunn and Liza Hobstetter; her stepson, Jason Payment; her grandchildren, Jheryd, Alexis, Haley, Chloe, and Reed; and her great-grandchildren, Eliza and Oscar. She is also survived by her brother, William “Buddy” Chism, his wife Michele, and their children, Autumn, Abigail, Sarah, Samantha, and Casper; her niece, Julie Kinkle, and Julie’s children, Morgan and Brady.

Denise was preceded in death by her spouse, Ray Payment; her mother, Dolores Gidcumb; her father, William Elliott Chism II; her sister, Barbara Chism Condit; and Barbara’s grandson, Parker.

 Denise lived a life full of love and dedication to her family. As a military wife for 30 years, she supported her spouse’s service and managed the household through numerous relocations and challenges. Denise actively participated in and helped run various Girl Scout endeavors with her daughter Liza, fostering a spirit of community and leadership. She also encouraged her son Damion to pursue his passion for art, nurturing his creativity and talent.

Denise took every opportunity she could to sing, filling her home and gatherings with music. She loved plants and helping them grow as much as she did helping her family grow. Her green thumb was matched only by her nurturing spirit.

Denise will be remembered for her kind heart, her warm smile, and her unwavering support for those she loved. She made a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 10 am at St. Brigid Catholic Church (1520 Hepburn Ave).
