Denise Sue Bakker, born on February 25, 1958, in Neptune, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana, surrounded by love and the comforting presence of her devoted husband, Rudy Bakker. Denise lived a life full of creativity, passion, and an commitment to her family.
After attending classes at Wall High School, Denise embarked on a career where she became a self-employed electronics manufacturer. Her career was a testament to her hardworking nature and the dedication she poured into everything she did. Denise was not only committed to her professional endeavors but also approached life with an open heart. She treated everyone she encountered as if they were her own family, embodying a sense of loyalty and affection that many will cherish forever.
Her creative spirit flourished through her love for art. Denise was particularly passionate about painting, drawing, sculpting, and wood burning—talents that brought her immense joy and allowed her to share her vision with the world. Many of her paintings found homes across the country, reflecting her humble yet impactful presence in the art community. Denise loved animals, showcasing her compassionate heart beyond just her family.
Family time was the cornerstone of Denise's life. She took great pride in watching her family grow and succeed, a testament to her love and guidance. Denise was a devoted mother to her children, Staci Anne Tartaglia, Rudy Bakker, Jr., and Miki Lee Bakker. Her grandchildren, Kaila Johnson-Taylor, Brianna Tartaglia, Cadence Pickerell, Nova Danser, and Corinne Tartaglia, brought her immeasurable joy, and she was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Aliyah Johnson. Denise’s legacy of love and support will be carried on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Denise leaves behind loving sisters, Betty Jane Stas and Kelly Long (Ann Trgovac), who will also miss her warm spirit and encouraging nature. She is survived by her step-son, Jacob Bakker (Kate), and grandsons, Ely Bakker, Caleb Bakker, and Brayden Bakker. Although she is no longer with us, Denise's vast love and the bonds she cultivated throughout her life remain everlasting.

Though she has joined her dearly departed mother, Shirley Anne Long; father, Russell Long; and brother, Russell "Rusty" Long, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched, reminding us to give our hearts to everyone and share love with the world.
