Delmar L. Stubbins, Sr., 80, of New Albany departed this life on January 7, 2017. He was a proud veteran of The United States Army. On June 5, 1965, he was married to Roberta J. Perry. To this union, four children were born. He became a member of Howard Chapel Baptist Church. Delmar retired after many years of service from the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library. He was a dedicated Indiana University Basketball fan.
Delmar was born in New Albany on March 18, 1936 to the late Adolph & Lora (Moppens) Stubbins. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Roberta J. "Ms. Birdie" Stubbins; sisters, Addison Duncan & Audrey Thomas; brothers, Edward, Milton, Robert, Charles, Norman, Walter, & Thornton Stubbins.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Donna Perry of Madison, Indiana, and Cookie Stubbins of New Albany; two sons, Steve and Delmar Stubbins, Jr., both of New Albany; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; 5 sisters, Eva Hearn, Mary Stubbins, Estella Stubbins, Dorothy Gibson, & Cleada Lively; and 2 brothers, Julius & Gary Stubbins.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 1 PM Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Howard Chapel Baptist Church (1715 E Market Street, New Albany, IN 47150). His Funeral Service is at 1 PM with burial to follow at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany.
