Deborah L. (Barnett) Koetter

September 6, 1956 — January 26, 2020

Listen to Obituary
Deborah L. Barnett Koetter, 63, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020.

She was born on September 6, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Dale and Emily Casey Barnett. As the daughter of a Navy Vietnam Veteran, Debbie moved frequently. After getting married to Regis, she was comforted to plant her roots in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, as her permanent home and became a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight, Indiana. She was a devoted, fun-loving mother who raised two beautiful children and always gave her time and heart, asking nothing in return. She expressed her love through cooking for family and friends and mostly enjoyed spending time with her 5 grandchildren who called her Nana Debbie. She had a Glass-Half Full mentality and a heart for serving others. She brought both of these qualities to the suites at the Louisville Bats Stadium, Papa John's Stadium, and the Yum! Center suites while working as a suite attendant for the past 12 years.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Regis Koetter; daughter, Natalie (Daniel) Eichenberger; son, Chad (Jessica) Koetter; brother, Dale (Robin) Barnett, Jr.; brother, William (Karen) Barnett; sister, April (David) Edmondson; brother, Matthew Barnett; and grandchildren, Rush, Haley, Stella, Amelia, and Charlotte.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (8310 St. John's Rd, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

It was Debbie's will to increase awareness that Colorectal Cancer is highly preventable. She wanted to use her experience to encourage others to get their colonoscopy.
