Deborah "Debbie" Lynn Rigdon, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born on November 18, 1954, in Louisville, Kentucky, Debbie's life was a testament to love, dedication, and the simple joys that filled her days.

A proud graduate of Butler High School in Louisville, Debbie went on to build a successful career as a tax preparer, where her care and attention to detail touched many lives. Yet, her greatest accomplishments were not measured by professional accolades but by the warmth and depth of her family connections and the vibrant spirit she brought to each moment.

Debbie married Rick Rigdon, her devoted husband of 53 years, with whom she shared a partnership rooted in love and mutual respect. Together, they nurtured a loving family that became the center of her world. She was the proud and joyful mother of two daughters, Carrie (Brian) Schmidt and Krista (Jason) Orton, and a doting grandmother to Jenna Schmidt, Brooke Orton, and Eli Orton. Her family was her heart's greatest treasure, a source of endless happiness and pride.

In addition to her immediate family, Debbie lovingly cherished the bond she shared with her sister, Pam Wendelgast, and her brother, Danny Stevens, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of dear friends. Her life was further enriched by her beloved fur baby, Rosie, with whom she shared a special, unwavering companionship.

Debbie's life was full of passion and diverse interests that brought her joy and allowed her to connect with the world in meaningful ways. She was an avid boater and camper, finding peace and adventure in the natural world. Sporting clay shooting offered her moments of focus and fun, while sewing brought creative satisfaction. Her love for reading, board games, bluegrass music, and attending bluegrass festivals revealed a zest for life’s pleasures and an enduring curiosity.

Above all, Debbie treasured spending time with her family and friends. The laughter, stories, shared meals, and especially the shopping trips with her grandchildren were moments she held dear. These interactions were the heartbeats of her life, filling her days with meaning and connection.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Betty Stevens, and her brother, Tommy Stevens, whose memories she carried with love throughout her life.

Debbie passed surrounded by those she loved most, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and an unbreakable bond that will forever hold her spirit alive in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was a beautiful song of dedication, warmth, and enduring love-one whose melody will echo through the stories and memories shared by her family and friends for generations to come.

Memorial contributions in Debbie's honor can be made to Alzheimer's Association.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
