Deborah “Debbie” Patterson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 71.
Born on April 23, 1955, Debbie’s life was marked by her warmth, enthusiasm, and deep-seated love for those closest to her. She made an indelible impression on all who knew her, cherishing moments large and small. Whether enjoying a quiet afternoon at home or gathered with family for a special occasion, Debbie’s devotion to her loved ones was unwavering.
Family was the cornerstone of Debbie’s life. She is survived by her devoted son Joshua Kennard and his wife Kristen. Debbie’s greatest delights were her three treasured grandsons-Ethan, Chase, and Parker Kennard. She relished every opportunity to spend time with them, proudly supporting their endeavors and sharing in their achievements. Her role as grandmother brought her immeasurable pride and joy.
Debbie is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Vicki Harrison James Metzger, and her nieces Penni James Sutton and Chasity James Darnell. Her deep affection for her family extended to these relationships, and she eagerly supported her nieces and nephews, celebrating their milestones alongside her own children and grandchildren.
Debbie’s circle of love was shaped by those who have gone before her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ronnie Patterson, whose companionship and love enriched her life. She is also predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Carole Hardwick, her sister Robin Harrison Lewis, and her nephew Corey Alan Lewis. Their memories remained close to Debbie’s heart throughout her days.
An active member of her community, Debbie was a proud member of The Louisville Jaycees, where her spirit of service found expression through camaraderie and civic engagement. Her passions were deep and enduring-she was a lifelong fan of the Kentucky Derby and UK basketball, eagerly anticipating each season and event. These traditions offered her not only enjoyment but the opportunity to connect with other enthusiasts and share moments of excitement and celebration.
Debbie’s life was best encapsulated by the deep bonds she shared with her loved ones. She found her greatest accomplishments in the simple yet profound act of spending quality time with her family and friends, especially her grandsons, nieces, and nephews. The love, advice, and support she offered will be dearly missed, leaving a legacy of kindness and devotion.
Debbie’s presence remains a comforting memory to all who were touched by her loving spirit. Her kindness, laughter, and capacity to bring people together endure in the hearts of her family and friends. As we bid farewell, we honor a life well-lived and cherish the moments she gave so freely.
It was Debbie's wishes to be cremated without services.
