Debora L. Poindexter, lovingly known as Debbie, passed away on September 5, 2026, in New Albany. She was born on November 29, 1960, in New Albany, Indiana.
Debbie was a proud graduate of New Albany High School and built her life with quiet strength, devotion, and care for the people around her. She worked diligently for many years as a line worker at Beach Mold and Tool Manufacturing, where her hardworking nature was evident in all she did. She was known as a creative, loving, affectionate, and honest woman whose warmth was felt by those who knew her.
She found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. Debbie loved crafting and antique shopping, and she especially enjoyed decorating her home and celebrating the holidays. Time spent with her family meant the most to her, and the love she gave so freely created lasting memories for those closest to her.
A special part of Debbie’s life was the enduring love she shared with her devoted husband, Ted Poindexter. They were married on June 7, 1986, and shared 40 years of marriage marked by commitment and affection.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Ted Poindexter; her sisters, Sandy Montgomery, Varnessa Osborne, and Mary Gribbins and Jim Gribbins. She also leaves behind the love and cherished memories of her nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends, who will carry her memory forward with deep affection and gratitude for the love she shared with them.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Payton, and her father, David Payton, Sr. and her brother David Payton, Jr.
Visitation will be held on September 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to take place at 2:00 p.m., Greenville Cemetery, 9388-9416 Arthur Coffman Rd. Greenville, IN, 47124.
Debbie will be remembered for her creativity, her honesty, her steadfast work ethic, and the love she gave to her family. Her presence brought comfort and beauty to everyday life, and she will be deeply missed.
