Dean Nevitt, born on June 13, 1944, in Wolf Creek, Kentucky, passed away on January 11, 2026. With a life dedicated to family and community, Dean was known for his unwavering work ethic and generous spirit. He was a provider, always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors and family with repairs and fixes, which brought him great joy and satisfaction.
Dean's personality was as big as his heart. He had an infectious sense of humor, always ready to share a joke that would light up the room. His pride in his family was evident, and they were his proudest accomplishment.
In his leisure, Dean found joy in various interests, from listening to Johnny Cash, watching Western movies, playing chess, the UK Wildcats, to engaging in friendly games of golf, Pinochle, and horseshoes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Nevitt; parents, Junius and Christine Nevitt and siblings, Wilma Bewley (Frank), Junius Nevitt, Jr. (Mary Ann), Clark Nevitt (Ann), JC Nevitt (Loraine), Cecil Nevitt, Gary Nevitt (Cindy) and Bernice Dillon.
Dean is survived by his children, Richard Nevitt (Damaris) and Kim Waddle (James); grandchildren, Jessica (Steven Cowley) Nevitt, Calvin Nevitt, Madison Menyhay (Adam), Nicholas Waddle, Avery Nevitt and Dylan Waddle; great-grandchildren, Luxe Burns, Remi Burns and Irie Burns; siblings, William Nevitt and Janie Barker and numerous nieces and nephews.
To honor Dean's life, visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM, also at Newcomer Funeral Home. Following the service, a graveside service will be conducted at Bethany Cemetery located at 10917 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40272.
