David Daniel “DeeDee” Way passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 65.
David will be remembered as a man full of personality and presence. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who found joy in the outdoors, and he had a gift for making people laugh. Never at a loss for words, he was known by those who loved him as a prankster—fun, witty, and knowledgeable in ways that made time spent with him memorable. His humor and lively spirit left a lasting impression on family and friends alike.
He also took pride in his work and retired after many years overseeing all of the maintenance and grounds work at Kentucky Country Day School. His dedication and steady effort were an important part of the place he served for so long.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Way; his brothers, Bill Way, Michael Way, and Charles “Chuck” Way; and his sister, Ruth Moses.
He is survived by his sisters, Alpha “Sissy” Rice and Vicky Bryant, as well as his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, who carry forward the memory of his laughter, his stories, and the unmistakable spirit he brought into their lives. He will be deeply missed and warmly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19th, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A memorial service will follow there at 2:30 p.m.
