David Ray True

David Ray True, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026. David was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a dedicated member of Kenwood Heights Christian Church where his faith was the cornerstone of his life. David was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for fishing and hunting. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Viet Nam War veteran. David retired from Hillerich and Bradsbury after many years of service. Most Importantly, David cherished his family and the everlasting memories he made with them. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on August 1, 1945 in Smithville, Kentucky to Otis and Rosa (Jones) True. He is preceded in death by his father, Otis Lee True; mother, Rosa Susin True; wife, Nora True; nephew, Terry True; brothers, Everett Lee True, Emmitt True; and sister, Delois Goosey.

David is survived by his loving family, daughter, Geneva Logston; sister, Helen Louise (Richard A.) Caswell; grandson, Brandon Richard; nieces and nephews, Tammy (Joe) Luttrell, Kathleen (Sam) Akil, Kathy (Tony) Truax, Eric True, Kevin (Milena) True, David Campbell, Denise (Stephen) Kirkland, Rebecca (Joshua) Caswell-Speight, Rosa Weiss, Patrick True; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville, 235 Juneau Drive. His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
