David J Thomasson

David J. Thomasson, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 56, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on February 21, 1970, in Louisville, David was a man whose presence brought warmth and ease to those around him. He graduated from Oldham County High School and carried through life a spirit that was fun and outgoing, matched by a big heart and a gift for listening. He loved his family deeply and was known as a loving father and loving son, qualities that shaped the way he moved through the world and cared for others.

David found enjoyment in woodworking, working on cars, and fishing. These interests reflected both his hands-on nature and the pleasure he found in time well spent, whether creating something with care or sharing quiet moments outdoors. Among all the roles he held in life, the one he treasured most was being a dad to his son, Noah. Being Noah’s father was his proudest accomplishment and a central joy in his life.

He is survived by his son, Noah Thomasson; his mother, Martha Saunders; his brothers, Thomas Patton and Mark Patton; his sister, Robin Hafling; his step-brothers, David L. Thomasson and Mike Thomasson; his step-sister, Debbie Schweitzer; Libby Humphrey, Ashley Zehnder daughter; and his best friend, Tim Makin, whose friendship meant a great deal to him. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Thomasson, and by his brother, Kenneth Patton.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243. Visitation will continue on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will take place that afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, KY 40213.

David will be remembered for his generous heart, his easygoing and welcoming nature, and the love he gave so freely to the people closest to him. His memory will remain a blessing to his family and friends, who will carry him with them always.
