David Lee Smith

David Lee Smith, 70, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023. David loved collecting cars. He attended many car shows and drag races during his life. David was a serious IU basketball fan, who rarely missed a game. He also loved The Beatles. David had a great sense of humor, which will be missed by his friends and family.

He was born on March 27, 1952, in New Albany, Indiana, to Albert and Carolyn Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents.

David is survived by his loving wife of 49 and a half years, Mary Jo Smith; daughter, Gretchen Marie Smith; granddaughter, Kaylee Smith; brother, Henry Smith; brother, Allen Smith; niece, Alicia Curtsinger; nephew, Larry Burchett; nephew, James (Holly) Lockman; and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023, and from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Mount Tabor Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.

The family requests that contributions in David's memory be made to the American Cancer Society (900 E. Main St., Louisville, KY 40206).
