David Lee Sherry

August 16, 1934 — August 26, 2018

David Lee Sherry, age 84 of Louisville, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2016. He was born August 16, 1934 in Connersville, Indiana to the late Frank and Oma Sherry. David served in the insurance business over 60 years in companies in Indianapolis and Louisville. He was the owner of The Old Commonwealth Insurance Agency from which he retired as President in 2003. He served his country for 12 years in the Indiana National Guard. David was an avid UofL sports fan and long-time member of Northeast Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon; brothers, Andrew, Loyd and Francis; sisters, Ruth Martin and Martha Chastain.

David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jean; children, Donald Sherry and Susan Lawson; step-daughter, Kyla Smith; sister, Doris Taylor; grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Jeremy Smith and Katie Laslie; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Trent; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. A celebration of David's life will be 11am Friday, August 31st at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
