David James Pierce, 64, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, formerly of Monroe, Michigan died on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at his home with family by his side.
Born March 9, 1952, in Monroe, MI, David was the son of the late Archie Leo (Jim) and Lois Marie (Kiley) Pierce. He grew up in the Monroe and Dundee area of Michigan and graduated from Dundee High School in 1970. David graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Tampa Technical Institute with a major in Electronic Engineering Technology. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Air Force from January 1972 to January 1980. He worked in construction for many years and more recently he worked for Amazon.com. He was a talented wood smith, creating many toys, treasure chests and other mementos for family and friends. Most precious to him was his family.
David is survived by a loving family; wife, Susan (Steffes) Pierce of Floyds Knobs, IN; children, David James Pierce II (Wanda) of Lakeland, FL and Jessica Drury (Aaron) of Floyds Knobs, IN. He is also survived by his sisters, Alice Walters and Linda Burke both of Saline MI; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Alisa, Hailey, David, Damion, Emily, Ellie, and Eden; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Wayne Pierce.
Memorial Services will be held in the near future in Monroe, MI. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in LaSalle, MI.
