David Lee Williams

David Lee Williams, born on September 22, 1964, passed away on September 19, 2026, leaving behind a life remembered for skillful hands, a fearless spirit, and a heart always ready to help others. He will be cherished as a man of humor, determination, and independence, someone whose presence brought energy to those around him and whose generous nature touched many lives.

For many years, David worked as a painter and a mechanic, trades that reflected both his talent and his tireless work ethic. He was known as “Mr. Fix It,” a fitting name for someone who could fix any and everything. He had a remarkable gift for working with engines and loved taking motors out of vehicles and replacing them, often having them back in within two days. His abilities were more than practical skills; they were part of the way he connected with others, offering help freely and wanting to lend a hand to anyone and everyone, even when he himself was facing challenges.

David’s love of life could be seen in the things that brought him joy. He enjoyed attending car shows and live music, places where his enthusiasm and adventurous nature felt right at home. He loved fishing, avid UofK fan and he especially treasured time spent with friends and family during cookouts, where laughter and togetherness made lasting memories. He was funny, stubborn, independent, and deeply helpful to others. He was also a daredevil at heart, someone who loved the rush of adrenaline and embraced life with boldness.

Among the memories held close by his family is the care and pride he put into painting and fixing up his brother Sean’s 1996 GMC truck, a lasting example of both his talent and the love he showed through his work. Acts like these spoke clearly of the kind of man David was: capable, generous, and always willing to give of himself.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Andrea Williams; his father, David Earl Williams; his grandmothers, Esther Welch and Hilda Williams; his aunt, Sandy Mezzano; and his uncles, Larry Williams and Timothy Williams.

He is survived by a loving family who will continue to carry his memory forward: his sisters, Dawn Williams, Sherry Williams, Jeneva Kinney and her husband James, and Leigh Ann Williams; his brother, Sean Williams and Cathy; his aunts, Gloria Welch and Lezah, Dorothy Williams, and Susana Williams; and his uncle, Charles (Catherine) Welch. He also leaves behind his nieces, Tabatha and Chelsey, and his nephews, Jason Williams, Joshua Williams, Jordan Williams, Chasten Williams, Billy Williams, Jameson Williams, and Daniel Williams. In their love, their stories, and the memories they share, David’s spirit will remain close.

David Lee Williams will be remembered for the strength of his hands, the humor in his heart, and the way he showed up for the people he loved. His life was marked by hard work, loyalty, and a fearless embrace of the world around him.
