David Lee Smith

January 21, 1959 — March 14, 2016

David Lee Smith, 57, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016. He grew up in Elizabeth, Indiana and was a 1977 graduate of South Central High School. David was currently employed at Amazon in Jeffersonville and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sellersburg. He was an avid fisherman and also loved woodworking.

He was born on January 21, 1959 in New Albany to Helen (Payton) Carter and the late Walter Smith, Sr. Along with his mother, David is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Susan (McCrary) Smith; brothers, Walter Smith, Jr. (Sandy), Lester Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Kathy McCrary; and his beloved dog, Snowball.

Cremation was chosen and a reception of family and friends will be from 12 PM to 4 PM Monday, March 21, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his Memorial Service taking place at 4 PM.

David had a passion for helping others and was an active volunteer in various disaster relief programs. The family requests contributions in his memory may be made to the Three Nails Project (1703 Hart Street, Vincennes, IN 47591).
