David Hayes, 67 passed away on December 10th at Veteran's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was a decorated War Veteran serving in the 11th Bravo (Infantry) from October 1968 to August 1969 in Vietnam.
David received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Metal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Ryan.
He is survived by two sons, Bradley and Christopher, grandchildren, Cameron, Jackson, Nova, Mazzy, Avery and Heath,
David comes from a family of 13. One brother, Tony preceded him in death.
He leaves behind four brothers: Don, Joseph (Patrice) Patrick (Geraldine) and Rick, seven sisters, Joan Chatman, Bonnie Hennessy, Connie McCay (Don) Mary Heckel (Ed), Theresa Barmore (Steve) Betty Hayes and Norma Perry (Wayne),a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Terry Hayes.
The Family wishes to express their infinite gratitude to both the Veteran's Hospital Palliative Care in Louisville and Gainesville, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hosparus and the Fisher House.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 9:30am until the time of the memorial service at 11:30am.
Following Mr. Hayes memorial service burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central,2501 N Dixie Blvd, Fort Knox, KY 40121 at 1:00pm.
