) asdfDavid Arthur Grumblatt, age 44, passed away on Thursday, January 8,2026 in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on October 6, 1981, in Louisville, David spent his life rooted in the city he called home, while also embracing the wider world through his passions and pursuits.
David was the beloved son of Bob and Barbara Veatch Grumblatt, who cherished him deeply. He was a thoughtful and creative soul, known especially for his love of writing and storytelling. David attended the University of Louisville, where he began shaping his voice as a writer, and later earned his Master’s Degree in Creative Writing from New York University. New York held a special place in his heart, and he spent several meaningful years living and working there after receiving his degree, fully immersed in the city he loved so deeply.
A lifelong lover of movies, books, and television, David found joy and connection through stories in all their forms. He had a quiet intelligence and a deep appreciation for creativity, culture, and conversation.
Above all, David loved his family. He took great pride in his role as an uncle and found true happiness in spending time with, and hearing about, all the activities and accomplishments of his nephews and niece. His care, curiosity, and genuine interest in their lives will always be remembered.
David is survived by his parents Bob Grumblatt (Linda Bayens) and Barbara Grumblatt (Gene Weis). He is also survived by his siblings, Matthew Grumblatt (Holly), Emily Earlywine (Jason) and Kelsey Kimberl (Trey), his niece, Kara Grumblatt, and his nephews, Ryan Grumblatt, Parker Earlywine, Hagan Earlywine, and Richie Kimberl. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will hold a small, private service for David.
A public celebration of life will be held at Gustavo’s Mexican Grill (401 S Hurstbourne Pkwy) in their private room from 2-5 pm on Saturday, January 17th.
