David Edwin Wiseman, age 71, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 6, 1954, in Louisville, Kentucky, David lived a life of dedication, achievement, and deep devotion to those he cherished.
David’s earliest years were where he developed the values of hard work and integrity that would define his life. He was a proud graduate of Clarksville High School in the Class of 1972 and continued his education at Purdue University for two years, further expanding his horizons and commitment to learning.
Professionally, David devoted 33 years to E I Dupont, exemplifying steadfast commitment and a remarkable work ethic. Over the decades, he climbed the ranks, eventually serving for many years as a supervisor. His leadership, fairness, and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond his career, David’s life was enriched by a wide array of interests and meaningful associations. A passionate supporter of IU Basketball, David was known for his spirited enthusiasm during each game. In recent years, he found joy riding his E-Bike, culminating in 2025, when he rode 15 miles in the ride To Beat Cancer-a testament to his resilience and determination.
David belonged to the Bonnie Sloan American Legion Post 28, VFW Post 1832, the Moose Lodge of Sellersburg, the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Eagle Scouts and the Order of the Arrow, these memberships reflected his commitment to camaraderie, community service.
Faith was a cornerstone of David’s life, providing guidance and strength throughout his journey. However, nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family. To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as “Poppy”-a title he cherished above all. The fond memories created with his family will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Wiseman, whose partnership and love spanned decades. He leaves behind his daughters, Sarah (Matt) Staser and Kelly Sams, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and perseverance. His cherished grandchildren, Marly Monroe Sams and Judah Preston Sams, were a profound source of pride and happiness. David is also survived by his brother, Alan (Susie) Wiseman, whose lifelong bond brought strength and comfort. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Wiseman and Doris Jean Wiseman.
Family and friends will have the opportunity to remember and honor David at visitation on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the same location. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, 2421 Hamburg Pike, Jeffersonville, IN 47130.
David’s memory will endure in the lives of all who knew him. His unwavering devotion to family, steadfastness in work, commitment to service, and joy in life’s simple pleasures leave a lasting legacy. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
