David Joe Dorton

January 14, 1957 — September 7, 2018

David Joe Dorton, 61, of Elizabethtown, KY passed away on September 7, 2018. He had recently re-dedicated his life to Christ and loved going to church. David was a self-employed carpenter who had recently moved to his farm in Rineyville where he enjoyed feeding the deer, watching the birds and spending time with his dogs. David was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished his family, having family gatherings and simply loved life.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Dorton and father, Gene Dorton.

David is survived by his wife, Cindy Dorton; children, Shawn (Lesley) Dorton and Brandy (Charlie) Luckett; grandchildren, Bryan, Destiny, Jordan, Cynthia, Haley, Jason, Emily, Lily, Mason, Ben and AnnaLee; 3 great-grandchildren; mother, Helen Dorton; brother, Bobby (Tina) Dorton and sister, Becky (Danny) Byers.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September, 12, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY from 12pm-8pm. A celebration of David's life will be Thursday, September, 13, 2018, beginning at 11am.

Burial will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens, 3817 Leitchfield Road, Celcilia, KY.
