David Wayne "Duke" Davis, Sr., 59, of New Albany, Indiana, left this earth on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. He was a 1976 graduate of New Albany High School where he later became the Plant Operator. Duke had a life-long love for both hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was teaching his children and grandchildren this trade and love for the outdoors. Duke never met a stranger and possessed a quirky sense of humor.
He was born on June 19, 1958, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Shirley (Eakins) Horner and Stanley Davis. Duke was preceded in death by his father; brother, Darin Horner; and brother-in-law, Roger Coy.
Along with his mother, Duke is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna (Roudenbush) Davis; children, David Davis, Jr. (Lisa), Robert Davis (Nikki), and Rebecca Davis (Laronzo); siblings, Trudy Coy and Lonnie Davis (Kim); sister-in-law, Shirley Horner; and grandchildren, Dorian Cockrel, Jr., Tanner Davis, Jahliyah Davis, and Jahkel Davis; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. His Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home with cremation to follow according to Duke's wishes.
