David Clater went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on
March 13, 2021, following an extended bout with cancer. His final days were
spent with his mother, son and two sisters by his bedside.
Although David's illness made him appear frail for the past decade of his
life, he was strong and constant in his love for his two sons and created many
lasting memories. He loved riding bikes with them, reading the Classics, and
talking endlessly about just about everything.
His true passion was for music, as he was an avid guitar player and enjoyed
"jamming" with friends and family on the weekends. He was also a talented
writer, most likely a result from his education at U of L and Penn State
Dickinson Law School, where he graduated with a law degree in 1985.
With David's passing we are reminded that life is but a "vapor". We are here
today and gone tomorrow. The things that are most important in this world
are the love we shared with one another and the memories we made together.
David will always be in our hearts and we look forward to when we will all
be together once again. We ask that all friends and family join us in
celebrating his life.
David was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wayne and Lillie
Clater; his maternal grandparents, James and Stella Wellman; his father
Rufus Henry Clater; and his son, David Henry Solomon Clater.
David is survived by his mother, Mary Ella Clater; his son Paul Troy
Alexander Clater, his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Dennis Connors;
his sister, Karen Reid, his uncle and aunt, Marcen and Gloria Clater; and
many cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as friends.
David's celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 20th, 2021
12:00pm noon at the home of his sister Karen Reid, 12612 Chesapeake Bay
Drive, Louisville, KY 40245. Interment-Forks of Otter Creek Cemetery.
