David L. Becht, affectionately known as Dave, passed away on October 1, 2024, in his hometown of New Albany, Indiana. Dave was born on June 26, 1952, and graduated from Floyd Central High School.
For many years, Dave devoted himself to his career as a truck driver, a profession that reflected his adventurous spirit and commitment to providing for his loved ones. His role as a driver was more than just a job; it was a journey across the roads he loved, filled with stories and encounters that enriched his life.
Beyond his professional life, Dave had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially liked trips to Red River Gorge, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and find peace in the tranquil moments away from the bustle of everyday life. He also enjoyed playing cards and watching a good old western. Dave also had a daredevil side to him. He had a passion for anything that involved going fast. From racing RC cars, stock car racing, riding go-karts and his motorcycle, Dave always embraced a chance to live life on the edge.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Lynn Becht, who stood by him through life's many twists and turns. His family continued with one son and his step-daughter and caregiver, Stephanie Schmidt. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and happiness to his life. He also leaves behind his brothers, Terry (Patty) Becht and Tim Becht; and numerous nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Becht and Alma Moore Becht.
Cremation was chosen following Dave's wishes and no services will be held at this time.
