David Allen Shouse

David Allen "Dave" Shouse, age 80, of Louisville, KY (formerly Rushville, IN), passed away on June 15, 2026. David was born on October 6, 1945 in Rushville, IN, the son of the late Robert A. and Beulah (Boyer) Shouse. Dave was a 1963 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School. He served his country as part of the National Guard with honorable discharge. Dave married May Louise Martin on September 2, 1983 in Rushville, IN. They shared 42 beautiful years of marriage together building a life filled with love and friendship. He worked as a meat cutter in retail grocery for the majority of his career. Outside of work, Dave enjoyed fishing, IU basketball and Coach Bobby Knight, golfing, visiting area wineries with his bride, and loved entertaining and joking with friends and family. Dave was known as "The Grillmaster" by his many friends in the Heritage Polo Fields Housing Community during his retirement. Dave enjoyed simple things, he didn't need anything fancy to make a moment special, and could find enjoyment just living in the moment. He was so passionate about his hobbies and interests that he shared the love of these things with many of his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews - memories that each of them will carry close to their hearts. He served the Rushville community as a member of the Elks for many years, serving as a past chairman of the Elks Hoop Shoot and as a former Exalted Ruler. Dave was a member of Southeast Christian and attended the Chapel of the Woods in Louisville.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Ruth Cory Shouse; and his brother, John Lewis.

In addition to his wife May, Dave is survived by his siblings, Joe Ed (Denise) Shouse, Karen (Rick) Lucas and Myron (Terri) Shouse; his children, Kim Shouse Randolph, Chris (Krista) Shouse, Bradley (Shellie) Harmon, and Troy (Holly) Harmon; his grandchildren, Alec Harmon, Jacob (Julia) Harmon, Alyssa Jenkins, Ty Jenkins (serving our country in the Air Force), Bella Harmon, Trace Harmon, Blake Harmon (serving our country in the Navy), Amarie Winkler and Teygan Harmon. Dave is loved by eight great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of Dave's life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Chapel in the Woods, 1407 Moser Rd, Louisville, KY 40299. Friends are welcome to visit the family from noon until the time of the service.
