David Allen Nelson

David Allen Nelson, 73, of Taylorsville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. David was a kind, generous and compassionate man. He was a loving and devoted father, brother, and Pop Pop to his beloved grandchildren. David had a passion for fishing and golf, and a love for hosting family gatherings where he was known as the best cook. A proud Kentucky Wildcats fan, he had a love for basketball. Most importantly, he cherished his family and the everlasting memories made with them. David was loved and cherished by many. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born in Danville, Kentucky to W.O. and Edith (Whitis) Nelson. He is preceded in death by his father, W.O. Nelson; and mother, Edith Nelson.

David is survived by his loving family, children, Alesha (Arshad) Iqbal, Jonathon (Sarah) Nelson, Sarah (Myron) Marrs; brothers, Donald (Sofia) Nelson, Michael (Denise) Nelson; grandchildren, Isaac (Kayla) Iqbal, Landen Marrs, Logan Marrs, Lucas Marrs, Lilly Nelson; mother of his children and friend, Candy Konkler; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville, 235 Juneau Drive. His Funeral Service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest privately at Danville Memorial Gardens at a later date.
