Daughn Victoria Gootee, affectionately known as "Vickie," passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and cherished memories. Born on December 16, 1944, in Lexington, North Carolina, Vickie was the beloved daughter of Victor and Catherine Parks. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community. In 1968, Vickie married the love of her life, Phil Gootee, in a heartfelt ceremony in Louisville, Kentucky. Together, they embarked on a journey that spanned 57 wonderful years, blessed with two beautiful daughters, Catherine "Kitty" Johnson and Robin Owens.  Vickie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Her heart was full as she watched her family grow, blessed with eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness. Her home was always filled with laughter and warmth, a testament to her nurturing spirit and open heart. An avid reader, Vickie had a particular fondness for romance novels, finding joy and escape in their pages.

She shared a passion for bowling with her beloved husband, and together, they enjoyed many evenings on the lanes as part of a local bowling league. Her life was also enriched by her membership in the Order of Eastern Star, where she formed lasting bonds and friendships. Vickie's gentle nature and unwavering support uplifted everyone around her. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds, extending even to her faithful dog, Sunny, who was a constant companion and source of joy. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral service will be held to celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Hosparus Health of Louisville, 6200 Dutchman's Lane, Louisville, KY 40205, in Vickie's honor.

As we remember Vickie, let us honor her legacy by cherishing our loved ones and living with the same grace, kindness, and love that she so effortlessly shared with the world. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
