Darrell “Moe” Edward Robinson, a quiet and steadfast soul, passed away on February 20, 2026 at the age of 70.
He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. A true loner by nature, he found comfort not in crowds, but in the simple, steady rhythm of his own company. Those who knew him understood that his silence was not emptiness, it was thoughtfulness, strength, and a deep sense of independence. He had a special love for his beloved 1956 Chevy and many other models. Countless hours were spent in the garage, hands worn and steady, bringing old metal back to life. Working on that ’56 wasn’t just a hobby it was his passion, his pride, and often his greatest joy. In the hum of tools and the shine of polished chrome, he found peace. He didn’t need many words to show he cared. His love was steady, practical, and constant shown in the things he fixed, the work he put in, and the quiet presence he offered to those closest to him. He will be remembered for his strength, his independence, his quiet loyalty, and the legacy he leaves behind in both family and steel.
He is survived by his mom Mabel Harrison; his daughters Venus Robinson, Novia (Darrell) Thomas, and Athena Robinson; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Brenda (Mike) Smith, Jerry and Terry Robinson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Robinson; brother Johnny Ray "John T".
Visitation will be from 11:00AM to 1:00PM on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His funeral service will be at 1:00PM on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
Though he walked softly through this world, the mark he leaves behind will endure strong, classic, and unforgettable, much like his ’56 Chevy.
The family requests that contributions in Darrell "Moe"’s memory be made to donor's choice.
