Darrell McGrath, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family. He was born on July 1, 1965, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a loyal brother "bud", friend, and a man whose hardworking, honest, and compassionate nature left a lasting mark on those who knew him.

Darrell was a proud graduate of Jeffersonville High School and went on to attend classes at I.U.S. He built a life defined by determination and skill, starting and running his own business. His strong work ethic and steady character were evident in all he did, and he took pride not only in his work, but in the life he created for the people he loved most.

Beyond his work, Darrell found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life. He enjoyed watching I.U. Football and sports, loved old cars, and always looked forward to time at the beach. He had a fondness for trying new sweet treats, treasured Sunday fun days with friends and family, and enjoyed going running. He also had a special love for his grand dogs Hutson, Huey, Kobonga, Leah, and Moose and grand cat Kitoko. Among his greatest joys were his two grandsons, Ezekiel Nzombi and Serge Nzombi, whom he loved playing with. Watching his family grow and succeed was his proudest accomplishment and one of the deepest sources of happiness in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn McGrath, who shared his life and love; his daughters, Megan Nzombi and her husband, Gedeon, and Hannah McCormick and her husband, Austin; his former spouse, Deborah McGrath; his stepdaughter, Shawna Schuppert; his stepson, Darius Gray; his beloved grandsons, Ezekiel and Serge Nzombi; and his sister, Linda Miller and her partner, Ronald Smith. Each of them carries forward memories of his strength, kindness, humor, and the love he gave so freely.

Darrell was preceded in death by his mother, Mavis McGrath; his father, Leonard L. McGrath; and his stepmother, Sandra McGrath. Their memory remained a part of his life, and now he is reunited with them in peace.

Darrell’s life was centered on family, friendship, and the everyday moments that become treasured memories. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

In accordance with Darrell's wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held to honor and remember him.
