Darrell Cecil Hughes

Darrell Cecil Hughes, a beloved son, fiancé, and brother, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025 after a prolonged illness at Jewish Hospital in the presence of his fiancé and oldest sister.

Darrell was a 1991 graduate of North Bullitt High School. He attended WKU and Sullivan School of Culinary Arts in Louisville. He was an employee of several notable restaurants to include the Seelbach Oak Room. He loved cooking, was a voracious reader and loved literature, JRR Tolkien, Stephen King, Star Wars, Marvel, and DC Comics and The Sandman, baseball and to the dismay of his dad, who bleeds Blue, the UofL Cardinals. He loved traveling westward or anywhere he could be outside enjoying nature, especially trees.

Darrell is survived by his parents, Darrell C. and Carolyn (Jackson) Hughes; his fiancé', Marie Johnson; his three sisters, Cathy Hughes, Laura (Perry) Black, Marlena (Michael) Bailey, aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00  p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Upon Darrell's passing, it was his heart's desire to be a donor Hero and those wishes were fulfilled through Network of Hope Louisville.
