Darlene Joy Doty

Darlene Joy Doty, age 83, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on September 4, 2026, in New Albany. She was born on October 18, 1942, in Watertown, Wisconsin.

Darlene built a long and steady career as a data transcriber for the Census Bureau, where she worked for 30 years. She will be remembered as someone who found joy in hiking, being outdoors, traveling and road trips, and especially in spending time with her family. These simple pleasures helped shape a life centered on care, connection, and appreciation for the world around her.

Family was an important part of Darlene’s life. She is survived by her daughter, Rachel Ann Doty, and her son, Daniel Elden Doty Sr., and his wife, Stephanie. She also leaves behind grandsons, Daniel Doty Jr. and Levi Doty and his wife, Victoria, as well as her great-grandson, Roman Doty. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her love and shared in her life.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Luella Hacht; and her brother, Arnold Hacht Jr.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A funeral service will begin there at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, 2421 Hamburg Pike, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.

Darlene will be remembered with love for her devotion to family, her enjoyment of the outdoors, and the many memories made along the way. Her life leaves a lasting impression on those who were fortunate to know her.
