Daretha "Dee" Rose Daugherty, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the age of 69. Dee was born on September 17, 1949 in Washington, Indiana to Marvin and Vivian Cook. She received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, where she lived and was a social worker for most of her life. She had two daughters, Desarae and Daphne, and three grandchildren, Abby, Isaiah, and Vinnie.
Dee enjoyed helping others and learning new things. Many of her hobbies and experiences she passed on to family and friends. She liked to spend time reading, listening to music and going to concerts, traveling, gardening, crocheting, sewing, baking, coloring, and working puzzles. She was often described as having a gentle, sweet, and kind spirit.
Dee was preceded in death by her father Marvin Cook; mother, Vivian Keehn; brother, Michael Cook; and sister, Marva "Sissy" Eddings. Survivors include Dee's daughters, Desarae Phillips and Daphne (Nick) Mitchell; grandchildren, Abigail Daugherty, Isaiah Phillips, and Ethan "Vinnie" Smith; as well as her siblings Janet Cook Dodge, Patrick (Pamela) Cook, Mark (Karen) Keehn, Jodi Keehn, Sherrie Grimes, Sandy Kessler, Susan Hammons, Rusty Cook, and Tempie Miller. Dee will also be remembered by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dee's celebration of life and memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 2:00pm at Garry E. Caven Park (shelter one) in Georgetown, Indiana.
