Danny Maupin

Daniel "Danny" Maupin, 44, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, leaving a legacy of laughter and broken hearts as he moved on from this earth. Born and raised in Louisville, KY, Danny also planted deep roots in Lexington, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Denver.

Danny leaves behind his beloved mother (the original Rascal Tamer), Debbie Maupin; his devoted father, Mike Maupin; his brother, Patrick Maupin (Stacey); and a massive network of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from all across the country.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ken "Jack/PaPa" and Bea Stengel, William and Louise Maupin, as well as his uncles, Tony and Joe Maupin.

To know Danny was to love him and to laugh both with, and at him. From his early childhood years, he always carried a smile, constantly striving to make people laugh and ensure a good time was had by all. Whether a crowd of one or a packed venue, he gave his all.

Comedy and music were everything to Danny. His musical journey began on the oboe at Eastern High School, where he was also part of the drum line in the marching band. That same passion led him to play guitar in the band Gobot7, and later to co-found i.raymond and Very Emergency with college friends at the University of Kentucky. His musical milestones include touring across North America, performing on the Bob & Tom Show, recording with Peter Frampton, and touring as a drum tech with Mac Sabbath. He was also a member of Mensa, a testament to the sharp mind behind his unique music career.

His passion for comedy was unmatched. He co-created the Late Late Breakfast comedy show; establishing roots in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and Denver. The show eventually toured the country to deliver joy and laughter, with a side of pancakes. He also co-created the podcast Take This Pod and Shove It, blending music history, commentary, and comedy to talk about country songs all while building the perfect country music playlist. No matter the format Danny was undoubtedly the funniest rascal in the room!

Family and friends will host a visitation on Sunday, September 13th 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, with a brief service starting at 3:00 PM at Newcomer East (235 Juneau Dr., Louisville, KY 40243).

A Celebration of Life Party will follow immediately after the visitation, starting around 4:15 PM at Mr. G’s Bar and Comedy Spot.
