Danny Lee Higdon

Danny Lee Higdon, born on July 19, 1954, passed away on June 30, 2026. Danny’s life was marked by hard work, deep devotion to his family, and a vibrant spirit that left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Danny found his calling as a local truck driver, where he spent many years providing for his loved ones and building a reputation for reliability.  Beyond his trucking career, Danny was an entrepreneur, running successful businesses at the Awesome Flea Market and Danny's Biker Gear. His entrepreneurial drive was matched by a unique and memorable personality. It was often said that to meet Danny was to remember him—thanks in part to his trademark wit and knack for a quick, clever comeback.

For Danny, the best days were simple, surrounded by those he loved. He cherished relaxing by the pool with a cold beer in hand, basking in the company of his family. Time spent together on holidays, weekends, and vacations, especially on a sunlit Florida beach, held a special place in his heart. Danny’s wife, children and grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he savored every moment with them, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

Danny’s legacy is rich with love, laughter, and the kind of presence that lingers long after a conversation ends. He approached life with an easygoing confidence and an enduring loyalty to those he cared about. Friends and family recall stories of his generosity, his humor, and his unyielding support.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Higdon; sister, Judy Fears and brother, Freddie Higdon.

Danny leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 41 years, Karen Higdon; children, Danny (Sabrina) Higdon, Jenny (Eric) Ritter and Jeff Kayse; grandchildren, Kyle (Tabitha), Amber, Tyler (Alanna), Alex and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Jarius, Kinsley, and Colton; mother, Virginia Higdon; siblings, Frankie (Sherry) Higdon, Jennifer Bratcher and Lisa (Jimbo) Kyser and several nieces, nephews and friends. 

A visitation honoring Danny Lee Higdon’s life will be held on July 7, 2026, from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Danny are welcome to pay their respects and celebrate his remarkable life.

He will be deeply missed, remembered always for his spirited nature, and cherished forever by those who were fortunate to know him.
