Danielle Lea Smith

Danielle Lea Smith, born January 2, 1975, and passed away on June 3, 2026, was a remarkable woman whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. A devoted mother and grandmother, Danielle’s greatest pride and joy were her beloved family, especially her cherished daughters and granddaughters whom she loved to spoil endlessly. Her unwavering devotion to them was a testament to the depth of her love and the warmth she brought into their lives.

Danielle’s journey began with her education at Our Lady of Lourdes elementary school, continuing through her graduation from Holy Cross High School in 1992. She then pursued studies at the University of Louisville, laying the foundation for a life marked by dedication and determination. Throughout her youth, Danielle showcased her athletic talents, embracing a variety of sports including field hockey, softball, tennis, and basketball during her high school years—a reflection of her spirited nature and enthusiasm for life.

Known for her spunky personality and independence, Danielle approached each day with an unshakeable optimism that inspired those around her. This optimism carried through to her professional life, where she was a committed Supervisor at Faurecia Automotive Seating. Her dedication to her work was as steadfast as her love for her family, and she took great pride in both roles, balancing them with grace and strength.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Franklin; stepmother, Denise Franklin and her sister, Tina Mattingly Taylor.

Danielle leaves behind to cherish her memories, her daughters, Simone (Derrick Cundiff) Douglas and Andrea (Anderson) Fuentes; granddaughters, Bella Fuentes and Eliana Fuentes; mother, Kathleen Franklin; stepfather, Mike Ryan; brother, Eli (Jennifer) Mattingly; nieces and nephews, Ashley, Dalton, Colton, Jaxton, Ellie Mattingly, Willie, Keevan, and Calvin Taylor and her fur baby, Ruby Tuesday. 

On June 15, 2026, friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Danielle Lea Smith. The memorial gathering will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home in Southwest Louisville, Kentucky, followed by a funeral service beginning at 6:00 p.m. These moments will offer an opportunity to remember Danielle’s spirit, her achievements, and the indelible mark she left on all who had the privilege to know her.

Danielle’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion. While she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends, inspiring all to embody her spirit of optimism, independence, and love.
