Daniel "Dan'O" Lee O'Brien, Sr., aged 73, of Louisville, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, January 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Daniel was a devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend. Known for his vibrant spirit, he cherished his free time spent playing the drums in a band, enjoying the thrill of bingo, and dining out with his beloved siblings. His outgoing nature allowed him to forge connections effortlessly, making friends wherever he went. The warmth of his presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Born on April 11, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky, Daniel was the cherished son of Gaylord and Dorothy (Allen) O’Brien. He is preceded in death by his father, Gaylord O’Brien; his mother, Dorothy Laverne O’Brien; and his brother, Ronald O’Brien.
Daniel's spirit lives on through his sons, Daniel O’Brien, Jr. and Danny Ray (Beth) O’Brien, as well as his sisters, Elizabeth (Woody) Smallwood and Claudia O’Brien, and his brother, Wendall O’Brien. He is also survived by a host of extended family and friends who will honor his memory with love and fond reminiscences.
Visitation to celebrate Daniel's life will take place on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a memorial service commencing at 6:00 p.m. This gathering will be held at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.
