Daniel Carson, age 64, passed away peacefully at home in Louisville on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, from complications of diabetes. Per his request, there will be a graveside service in Karlstad planned for November.
Daniel "Danny" Leon Carlson was born April 17, 1951, in Karlstad, MN to Swen and Irene (Walz) Carlson. He grew up on the family farm and was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Salem Lutheran Church of rural Stephen. He attended Karlstad School, graduating in 1969. Danny worked for various farmers, construction, and was the manager of Hallock Coop Elevator in the 1970's. He relocated and settled in Louisville, KY area starting his own business, "Danny's Tree Service", in the '80's which became very successful. He had an extremely strong work ethic and was active in his business until his death. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He became an excellent marksman and vacationed in Minnesota every fall to hunt deer by bow, rifle, or black powder. Danny enjoyed reloading shells, collecting mounts, and traveling to exciting and adventurous places.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Swen in 1977 and Irene in 2014, and many friends and relatives including his grandparents, Olaf and Christine Carlson and Albert and Anna Walz.
Danny is survived by a son, Clint Carlson of Louisville; long-time friend, Shanita Smith of Louisville; brother, Bryon Carlson of Lake Bronson, MN; sisters, Sandi and Les Jensen of Cordes Lakes, AZ and Sonja and Dan Simonson of Eveleth, MN, and numerous other relatives and friends.
